Florida football head coach Dan Mullen outlined his four core values for the Gators program.
Dan Mullen is trying to change the culture at Florida and here are his core values.
1. Players being honest with themselves
2. No putting hands on women / not putting yourself into a situation that could become negative
3. No Drugs
4. No Guns
Dan Mullen said every player on his team has a clean slate at this point and he will give each of them an opportunity to prove themselves.
They have to earn Dan Mullen's respect to play on the field.
"Everybody, in my book, has a clean slate to go prove themselves," Dan Mullen said. "I told the team I chose them. They didn't choose me, I chose them. I guaranteed them that I will earn their respect."
First thing Dan Mullen will look at is the grades from this semester and how they represent the school.
"When we get back, I'm going to look at the grades from this semester," Dan Mullen said. "That's going to be a really big factor for me to start with the team, No. 1.
Then he added this:
"But I promised them, they will earn my respect, as well, before they are able to put on that uniform and go represent our university out there on that football field and that was very, very important to me and that's going to be done through academics and through the effort they start giving in the off-season, and everyone has a clean slate to go start over and show what they can be."
Dan Mullen cares a lot about the academics and the grades will give him a real idea who is fully committed to the program.
Dan Mullen said his players will compete in everything they do in life.
"We're going to be a team that competes in everything we do, and you'd better take that seriously and making sure that we are of that mindset that we're competing as much in the classroom as we are going to compete on the field and we're just going to be competitors in life."
